Statement by Anders Pedersen on the kick-off of the UN75 campaign in Jordan

Message of the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Jordan, Mr Anders Pedersen, on the launch of UN75 campaign in Jordan.

“We are delighted in Jordan to launch the UN Secretary General’s “The Future We Want, the UN We Need” initiative.

In 2020, we mark the 75th anniversary of the founding of the UN. On that occasion, the UN is launching a large and inclusive global conversation on the role of global cooperation in building the future we want.

Through the upcoming dialogues, we aim to build a global vision for the year 2045, the UN’s centenary; to increase understanding of the threats to that future; and to drive collective action to realize that vision.

The participation of everyone, children, young people, women and men is important and will enrich these consultations, as this will help to increase understanding of the threats and challenges we need to address to build a better future for all.

Our shared vision for the future - will require cooperation across borders, sectors and generations.
