Our Work on the Sustainable Development Goals in Jordan
How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Jordan
The United Nations in Jordan continued its pledge to support the Government of Jordan in improving the lives of all Jordanians and those whom Jordan seeks to protect, especially the weakest and most vulnerable, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The primary instrument for ensuring the implementation of the UN development activities in Jordan is the United Nations Sustainable Development Framework (UNSDF) 2018-2022, which represents the strategic planning framework for cooperation at the country level.
Through the UNSDF, the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) aims to support Jordan in achieving its national objectives and delivering on the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development through a human rights-based and people-centred approach. To strengthen the linkage between UN support in humanitarian and development, the UNSDF includes contributions in both areas.
The UNSDF commits the UN towards increased collaboration, coherence, and efficiency, towards achieving three inter-related and inter-connected outcomes:
1) Strengthening institutions: Institutions in Jordan at national and local levels are more responsive, inclusive, accountable, transparent and resilient;
2) Empowering people: People, especially the vulnerable, proactively claim their rights and fulfil their responsibilities for improved human security and resilience;
3) Enhancing opportunities: Enhanced opportunities for an inclusive engagement of people living in Jordan in the economic, social, environmental and political spheres.
